Gervinho arrives for Arsenal medical

Arsenal are poised to make their first major signing of the summer, with Lille striker Gervinho due to undergo a medical at the club’s London Colney training base this afternoon.

Should he pass the medical, a £10 million deal will be announced before the end of the week.
Gervinho would then be available to join the rest of the Arsenal squad on Sunday as they depart for the club’s pre-season tour of Asia.
His arrival will place further doubt over the future of Denmark striker Nicklas Bendtner, who is the subject of interest from both Borussia Dortmund and Benfica.
Gervinho, 24, is an Ivory Coast international and scored 15 goals as Lille won France's La Ligue last year. Kolo Toure plays in the Ivory Coast international team with Gervinho and has likened him to Inter Milan’s Samuel Eto’o.
""Gervinho is very skilful, he’s young, swift and technical,"" Toure said.
""I call him the next Samuel Eto’o. He merits being Cote d’Ivoire’s player of the year and I hope he will roll out another brilliant season. I pray he joins a club where he could express his talent more to the world.""
